RHS 850 Unit Description
WARNING: Always use safety goggles and gloves when working with refrigerant. May cause frostbite if in contact with skin or eyes. Read and follow safety instructions for working with A/C systems. Service PrecautionsIncreasingly, environmental legislation means refrigerant has to be handled responsibly. The refrigerant Volvo will be using for air-conditioning (A/C) systems in future (starting with the 850, USA: 1993 models) is called R134a. This refrigerant must only be used in A/C systems where R134a is specified (see plate in engine compartment). R134a must not be mixed or used in A/C systems where other refrigerants are specified, otherwise there is a risk of causing serious damage to the compressor.
To meet the latest legislation and at the same time make handling easier, Volvo has developed a unit which drains, filters and recycles refrigerant. It can also pump out, test and refill a car's A/C system.
RHS 850 unit Part no. 9511000-3:
This unit has been specially designed for Volvo cars. The different settings on the unit mean it can be used for any cars using R134a. The unit is designed to recycle as much of a car's refrigerant as possible. The unit uses a single-phase 220 V 50 Hz power supply (grounded).
