Checking Drive Status, Backrest

CCA. Fault-tracing information.
Condition

No diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)
The fault is permanent.
No faults detected on the control panel.

Possible source




- Contact resistance in terminals.
- Open-circuit on wiring to motor 2.
- Defective motor 2.
- Defective drive gear.
- Defective control module.

Fault symptom(s)
- No backrest angle adjustment.
- Fault-tracing begins at CCB.

CCB. Checking drive status, backrest

CCB1: Conditions
This fault-tracing procedure assumes that there are no faults detected in the control panel.

Has fault-tracing been carried out on the control panel?

Yes:
- CCB2


No:
- Carry out fault-tracing on the control panel in accordance with the Symptom Table. Symptom Table

CCB2: Check activation




- Ignition OFF.
- Operate the backrest forward/backward using the control button.

Does the backrest move forward and backward?

Yes:
- Fault not found

No:
- CCB3


CCB3: Checking the control module




- Ignition OFF.
- Remove seat from car.
- Connect adapter cables to the seat. Refer to Voltage Measurement.Wiring Up For Voltage Measurement
- Connect a voltmeter between ground and the gray 14-pin connector, position B:1 for moving the backrest forward and B:2 for moving the backrest backwards.
- Operate the backrest forward/backward using the control button.
- The voltmeter should indicate battery voltage when the respective buttons are pressed.

If reading is OK:
- CCB5

If reading is incorrect:
- CCB4


CCB4: Replace component




Try a new control module.

Then continue with:
- CCB12


CCB5: Checking motor




- Ignition OFF.
- Cabling. Refer to Voltage Measurement.Wiring Up For Voltage Measurement
- Disconnect drive cable from motor 2.
- Run motor 2 using the control button for the backrest.

Is the motor working?

Yes:
- CCB7

No:
- CCB6


CCB6: Replace component
Try a new motor.

Then continue with:
- CCB12


CCB7: Checking drive cable operation




- Ignition OFF.
- Cabling. Refer to Voltage Measurement.Wiring Up For Voltage Measurement
- Disconnect drive cable from drive gear.
- Reinstall drive cable on motor.
- Run motor 2 using the control button for the backrest.
- Check the drive cable.
- The drive cable should turn.

If reading is OK:
- CCB9

If reading is incorrect:
- CCB8


CCB8: Replace component
Try a new drive cable.

Then continue with:
- CCB12


CCB9: Checking drive gear




- Ignition OFF.
Adjust the backrest manually using the crank 340 6731.

Is the drive gear working ?

Yes:
- CCB11

No:
- CCB10

CCB10: Replace component
Try a new drive gear.

Then continue with:
- CCB12


CCB11 Checking drive cable length




- Ignition OFF.
Measure distance between sheath sleeve and cable end.
The wire should stick out at least 10 mm (0.4 in.).

If reading is OK:
- Fault not found

If reading is incorrect:
- CCB8

CCB12: Verification


Hint
: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied as follows:




- Ignition OFF.
- Reinstall components, connectors etc.
- Operate backrest forward/backward using the control button.
- Does the backrest operate in both directions?

Yes:
- Fault corrected

No:
- CCB13

The verification result shows that the fault persists

No:
