Ignition Lock: Description and Operation

IGNITION SWITCH LOCK
In certain markets, these functions are complemented by another safety feature in the form of a key lock operated mechanically by a cable connected to the ignition switch. The key lock function is controlled by the position of the lock plunger (4) in the ignition switch and by the position of the gear selector lever. This means that the lever must be in position P before the key can be withdrawn from the switch, also that the key must be turned to position I or II before the lever can be moved from that position. The ignition switch lock function is only available in combination with the Park/Neutral Position (PNP) switch. See illustrations A and B.
