Checking diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). Power seat





Preparations
Before erasing diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) all indicated faults must be corrected.

Note! To obtain the correct communication with the control module during the procedure the instructions concerning the ignition switch position must be followed.

Select 1 to continue erasing.
Select 2 to interrupt erasing.

Connection

Connection of Volvo Scan Tool (ST)
Volvo ST must be connected to both VIDA PC and vehicle to DLC in passenger compartment (models 1996-) or DLC B (models -1995).





Is Volvo ST connected and switched ON?

Yes - FAULT FOUND

No - No Fault Found

Connection of Volvo ST




- Ignition off.
- Insert blue memory cassette into Volvo ST.
- Connect adapter 951 1457-5 to cable 951 1458-3.
- Connect VIDA communication lead between the adapter and the VIDA PC.

Is the data link connector (DLC) located in passenger compartment?

Yes - Connection to DLC

No - Connection to DLC

- Connect Volvo ST cable (p/n 951 1458-3) to the adapter (p/n 951 1459-1) for use in the engine compartment.
- Connect the adapter to DLC A or B, see DLC DLC.
- Connect the adapter supply lead to battery.
- Switch on Volvo ST.





Press Continue.

Continue - DONE

- Connect Volvo ST cable (p/n 951 1458-3) to the DLC in passenger compartment.
- Switch on Volvo ST.

- Ignition off.
Select symbol with Volvo Scan Tool (ST).
Select ERASE PSL to erase diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) for the left seat.
Select ERASE PSR to erase diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) for the right seat.






Numeric Result 0 - Fault-tracing information

Alternatives:
1. Continue checking the seat on which the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) have been erased.
2. Erase diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) for the other seat if fault-tracing has been carried out and if it is equipped with a memory function.

Select ERASE PSL to erase diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) for the left seat.
Select ERASE PSR to erase diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) for the right seat.

Test all the functions in the seat with the control and memory buttons.
Select symbol with Volvo Scan Tool (ST).
Select READ PSL to read off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) from the left seat.
Select READ PSL to read off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) from the right seat.




- Note diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) if stored.
Does not apply to diagnostic trouble code (DTC) PSL/PSR-424.

Caution! Remember to remove the transport safety device for the SIPS Airbag on completion of work.

No DTCs should be stored, apart from PSL/PSR-424.

- Ignition off.

Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) have probably been stored during repair work.
Check that all connectors and components have been correctly connected.

Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) stored earlier
Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) have probably been stored during incorrectly performed repair work
Check that fault-tracing has been carried out correctly according to the relevant fault-tracing instructions.
It is possible to interrupt or make a new attempt to erase diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
