Procedures


Special Tools:
- Handle tool No. 999 1801, or equivalent
- Gear Sector tool No. 999 5112, or equivalent
- Driver tool No. 999 5430, or equivalent

Procedure

NOTE: Proceed with transmission removed as described under Transmission Removal, refer to Transmission and Drivetrain.





1. Remove flywheel/drive plate:
- Use gear sector 999 5112, or equivalent.





2. Replace seal:
- Remove seal using a groove-cut chisel.

NOTE: Do not damage contact surfaces. Note the position of seal in relation to sealing flange.

- Oil seal contact lip.
- Install seal using driver tool No. 999 5430 and handle tool No. 999 1801, or equivalents.
- Knock in seal until the driver hits the crankshaft.





3. Reinstall flywheel/carrier plate:
- Use gear sector tool No. 999 5112, and special screws tool No. 999 5593, or equivalents.
Manual Transmission:
- Reinstall the flywheel using the three special screws and tighten (diagonally) to: 45 Nm (33 ft lb)
- Install the other standard screws, using new screws, and tighten to 45 Nm (33 ft lb).
- Replace the three special screws with new standard screws and tighten diagonally to: 45 Nm (33 ft lb)
- Angle tighten all screws an additional: 65°
Automatic Transmission:
- Install the drive plate, tighten in two stages:
Tighten to: 45 Nm (33 ft lb)
Angle tighten: 50°
