Checking the air conditioning (A/C) system

Condition
General
This fault-tracing procedure applies only to that part of the air conditioning (A/C) system governed by the Motronic 4.4. engine control module (ECM).

Condition
- no diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) stored
- the fault is permanent.

Possible source
- Short-circuit to ground in 15-supply
- open-circuit in 15-supply
- Open-circuit in cable between air conditioning (A/C) relay and air conditioning (A/C) switch, blower fan switch, control module or pressure switch (Pressostat)
- Open-circuit in cable between pressure switch (Pressostat) and compressor
- Defective air conditioning (A/C) relay, air conditioning (A/C) switch, blower fan switch, pressure switch (Pressostat) or compressor clutch.
