DTC EFI-131

1-3-1 ENGINE SPEED SENSOR, SIGNAL MISSING





Trouble Code Conditions
- Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) EFI-131 is stored if the engine control module (ECM) does not receive a signal from the engine speed (RPM) sensor for 10 engine revolutions.

NOTE: The polarity of the engine speed sensor wiring is reversed in cars with a manual transmission with drilled holes in the flywheel rather than milled slots.

Substitute value(s)
- No fuel injection or ignition.

Possible source(s)
- Open-circuit in signal or ground cable.
- Short-circuit to ground or supply voltage in signal cable.
- Contact resistance in terminals.
- Defective engine speed sensor.

Fault symptom(s)
- Engine does not start.
- Engine cuts out.
