Trouble Code Conditions
- Diagnostic Trouble Code EFI-233 is stored when the volume of air through the valve increases or decreases by too much to maintain the correct idling speed.

- Acceptable limit values for adaptive idle are between +22kg/h (48.5 lb/h) (upper limit) and -8 kg/h (-17.6 lb/h) (lower limit)

Possible source(s)
Upper limit:
- Clogged air cleaner or air intake.
- Contact resistance in terminals.
- Incorrectly adjusted throttle body.
- Defective idle air control (IAC) valve.

Lower limit:
- Air leakage.
- Contact resistance in terminals.
- Incorrectly adjusted throttle body.
- Defective idle air control valve.

Fault symptom(s)
- Idling speed too high or low.
