DTC EFI-411

4-1-1 THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR, SIGNAL

Trouble Code Conditions
- Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) EFI-411 is stored if the engine control module (ECM) receives a signal from the throttle position (TP) sensor corresponding to a throttle angle of less than -3.3° (0.1 Volts) (signal too low) or higher than 100.1° (4.9 Volts) (signal too high).

Substitute value(s)
- Idle air trim disabled.
- Throttle angle set to 32.2°.
- The engine control module uses the mass air flow (MAF) sensor signal to determine idling position.
- The engine control module uses the mass air flow sensor signal and engine speed (RPM) to determine full-load position.
- Leakage diagnostic is turned off.
- Pulsed secondary air injection (PAIR) diagnostic disabled.

Possible source(s)
Signal too high:
- Short-circuit to supply voltage in power or signal cable.
- Open-circuit in signal cable or ground lead.
- Contact resistance in terminals.
- Defective throttle position sensor.

Signal too low:
- Short-circuit to ground in power or signal cable.
- Open-circuit in power cable - contact resistance in terminals.
- Defective throttle position sensor.

Fault symptom(s)
- Car feels sluggish.
- High idling speed in neutral.
