DTC ABS-142 will be posted if the car's road speed is over 40 km/h (24 mph) and falls below 3 km/h (2 mph) during two consecutive brakings without the control module registering any signal change from the brake light switch.

Substitute value

None

Possible source

- Signal cable short-circuited to ground or current.
- Signal cable break
- Defective brake light switch
- Contact resistance in the connections
- The car's road speed has been reduced without using the brake pedal, e.g. application of the parking brake.

Fault symptom[s]

Any ABS control will be characterized by a somewhat rougher control in the beginning.
