Yes - FAULT FOUND

No - Connecting test box to connector B (grey)

- Ignition off.
- Disconnect control module.
- Connect adapter 951 1351 ADAPTOR 86-PIN 951 1351 Adaptor 86-Pin to control module connector.
- Connect test box 981 3190 Replaced by 9511428 981 3190 Replaced by 951 1428 to adapter, connector B.





Press Continue.

Continue - No Fault Found

Checking ground lead








- Ignition off.
- Disconnect TP sensor.








- Connect an ohmmeter between connector terminal 1 and ground.

Ohmmeter should read approx. 0 ohms.

OK -

Not OK - Check lead between #A18 and sensor terminal 1 for open circuit as per Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault

20 - 40 ohm - Wait 4 minutes with ignition off and then try again.

- Check lead between #A18 and sensor terminal 1 for open circuit as per Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.

Fault tracing information

Power latch
The obtained reading, 20 - 40 ohms, could be caused by the Power latch which is a built-in function in the control module.
The control module switches to Power latch 4 minutes after the engine stops.
- Wait 4 minutes with ignition off.

Checking ground lead








- Ignition off.
- Disconnect TP sensor.








- Connect an ohmmeter between connector terminal 1 and ground.

Ohmmeter should read approx. 0 ohms.

OK -

Not OK - Check lead between #A18 and sensor terminal 1 for open circuit as per Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault

Checking supply lead








- Disconnect TP sensor.
- Ignition on.








- Connect a voltmeter across connector terminals 1 and 2.

Voltmeter should read approx. 5 V.

OK -

Low -

High - Check lead between #A15 and connector terminal 2 for short circuit to supply as per Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.

- Check lead between #A15 and connector terminal 2 for short-circuit to supply as per Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.





Press Continue when fault is repaired.

- Connect an ohmmeter between connector terminal 2 and ground.

Ohmmeter should read infinite resistance.

OK - Check lead between #A15 and connector terminal 2 for open circuit as per Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault

Not OK -
Check lead between #A15 and connector terminal 2 for short circuit to ground as per Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.

Ohmmeter should read 50 - 300 kohms.

OK -

Low - Check lead between #A16 and TP sensor terminal 2 for short-circuit to ground as per Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.

High - Check lead between #A16 and connector terminal 3 for open-circuit as per Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.

- Check lead between #A16 and connector terminal 3 for short-circuit to supply as per Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.





Press Continue when fault is repaired.

Checking TP sensor signal








- Ignition off.
- Connect TP sensor.




Note! See Communication with control module Communication With Control Module for conditions regarding communication.

Activate instrument, by selecting VST symbol.
- Ignition on.
- Read TP sensor value.

Reading should be approx. 0.4 V at idling and increase to approx. 4.0 V at WOT.

OK - DTC was due to poor connections in TP sensor connector.Treat connector for contact resistance and oxidation as per Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.

Not OK - Try another TP sensor.
