Checking ground terminals

- Ignition off.
- Control module disconnected.
- Turn of all equipment in the car that takes power from the battery (the interior lighting and radio etc).
Connect an ohmmeter between the battery negative terminal and:
#20 (#A20) on the breakout box
#29 (#A29) on the breakout box.

The ohmmeter should read approximately 0 ohms for all readings

OK - No Fault Found

Not OK - Checking for an open-circuit, contact resistance and oxidation

Test driving

- Ignition off.
- Reconnect connectors, reinstall components.
- Connect control module.
- Disconnect the Volvo Scan Tool (ST) from the VIDA station and use the instrument in stand-alone mode. Connect the Volvo Scan Tool (ST)) to the data link connector (DLC).
- Read off diagnostic trouble code (DTC) counter and make a note of the value.
- Test drive the car. See Test Drive Form, description Test Drive Form, Description.

Hint: See Lock-up Lock-Up for the driving conditions required to engage and disengage lock-up. The transmission should be at normal operating temperature when test driving because lock-up engagement is dependant on the oil temperature in the transmission.

Note! Do not switch off ignition.

- Read off diagnostic trouble code (DTC) counter without switching off the ignition.

Is counter value greater than 0?
