Current Too High. Permanent Fault
Current too high. Permanent fault
Checking the connectors
- Check the control module's connector C as well as the micro switches' connector for short-circuiting to voltage, contact resistance, and oxidation according to: Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault
Remedy as necessary.
Other information
- Replacing the control module Service and Repair
- To access/replace micro switches, lock cover, see: Replacing and adjusting micro-switches Replacing and Adjusting Micro-Switches
Select continue when the defect has been remedied.
Continue - Checking the wiring
-------------------------------------------------
Checking the wiring
- Check that the micro switches look correct.
- Remedy as necessary.
- Ignition on.
Read off the status of micro switches. Operate the micro switches manually.
Operate the right microswitch so that it is constantly active.
Operate the left switch manually.
Status shall change from activation (microswitch on) on to no activation (microswitch off).
Operate the left microswitch so that it is constantly active.
Operate the right switch manually.
Status shall change from activation (microswitch on) on to no activation (microswitch off).
Other information
- Replacing the control module Service and Repair
- To access/replace micro switches, lock cover, see: Replacing and adjusting micro-switches Replacing and Adjusting Micro-Switches
- If status is constantly low, there is short-circuit to ground.
- If status is constantly high there is open circuit, or short-circuit to voltage.
Hint: The switch can be activated manually or using a pointed tool, be careful.
Does status of both micro switches change?
Yes - Verification
No - Checking the component
-------------------------------------------------
Checking the component
- Disconnect relevant microswitch.
- Ignition on.
Connect a voltmeter between microswitch 1 and ground.
Activate the switch manually so that it is active during the whole measurement.
Measure for short-circuiting to voltage according to: Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault
If short-circuit was found, change microswitch.
Remedy as necessary.
Other information
- To access/replace micro switches, lock cover, see: Replacing and adjusting micro-switches Replacing and Adjusting Micro-Switches
Hint: The switch can be activated manually or using a pointed tool, be careful.
Any short-circuiting found?
Yes - Verification
No - Checking the component
-------------------------------------------------
Checking the component
- Ignition off.
Connect an ohmmeter in the switch's connector between 1 and 2.
Activate the switch manually so that it is active during the whole measurement.
Measure for open circuit according to: Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault
If open circuit was found, change microswitch.
If no problem causes are found, the problem is likely on the cable between the control module and the microswitch's connector.
Remedy as necessary.
