Condition




- The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored within 2 seconds when the signal is short-circuited to ground and vehicle speed is > 2 kph.

Possible source
Short-circuit to ground in vehicle speed output signal cable between combined instrument panel and
- engine control module (ECM)
- cruise control
- audio, automatic volume control
- any accessories installed.

Fault symptom[s]

Note! The combined instrument panel displays no visible symptoms of this diagnostic trouble code (DTC).

- A diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored in the engine control module (ECM) and the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lights.
- Cruise control stops working and a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored.
- Audio, automatic volume control not working.
