EFI-335 Cable fault between AW 50-42 and Motronic 4.4 (lamp lights)

Condition




The automatic transmission control module (TCM) can request the lighting of the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) by transmitting a signal to the engine control module (ECM). Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) EFI-335 is stored if the engine control module (ECM) registers a fault in the signal cable. When the engine is started the engine control module (ECM) checks for a short-circuit to supply voltage or open-circuit (high signal) in the signal cable. When the engine is running, the engine control module (ECM) checks for a short-circuit to ground in the signal cable (low signal).
