Checking Common Ground Terminal

Checking common ground terminal

EFI-123, EFI-411 and EFI-251 or EFI-314

Information

This test is intended to identify faults that post more than one diagnostic trouble code (DTC). If the following diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) with status messages have been stored, fault-tracing should be continued.
- EFI-123 Engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor.
- EFI-411 Throttle position (TP) sensor.
- EFI-251 Outside temperature sensor.
- EFI-314 Camshaft position (CMP) sensor.

Do you want to continue testing?

Yes - Checking for an open-circuit, contact resistance and oxidation

No - No Fault Found

-------------------------------------------------

Checking for an open-circuit, contact resistance and oxidation
Engine control module (ECM) terminal #A18 is a common ground terminal for:
- Engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor.
- Throttle position (TP) sensor.
- Camshaft position (CMP) sensor.
- Outside temperature sensor.
If there is a fault in the common cable to engine control module (ECM) #A18, several diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) will be stored.

- Check cable between engine control module (ECM) #A18 and one of the components for contact resistance and oxidation according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault and for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.

Select "Continue" when the fault has been repaired.

Hint: After repair, it is necessary to check that the fault has been corrected.
Perform as follows:

- Ignition off.
- Reconnect connectors, components etc.
- Start engine and let it run at idling speed.

- Read off the throttle angle.

Throttle angle should be 3-8° at CTP and 80°-90° at WOT.

OK - VERIFIED

Information

Fault-tracing information
The fault should have been detected and remedied. As this is not the case fault-tracing has failed.
Exit fault-tracing for this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) or make another attempt.

Do you want to exit fault-tracing?

Yes - Exit fault-tracing

No - Attempt New Test
