Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information EFI-411

EFI-411 Throttle position (TP) sensor, signal

Condition

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) EFI-411 is stored if the engine control module (ECM) receives a signal from the throttle position (TP) sensor corresponding to a throttle angle of less than -3.3° (0.1 V) (signal too low) or greater than 100.1° (4.9 V) (signal too high).

Substitute value
- idle air trim disabled
- throttle angle set at 32.2°
- the engine control module (ECM) uses the mass air flow (MAF) sensor signal to determine idling position
- the engine control module (ECM) uses the mass air flow (MAF) sensor signal and engine speed (RPM) to determine full-load position
- leakage diagnostic is disabled
- pulsed secondary air injection (PAIR) diagnostic disabled.

Possible source

Signal too high:
- short-circuit to supply voltage in power or signal cable
- open-circuit in signal cable or ground lead
- contact resistance in terminals
- defective throttle position (TP) sensor.

Signal too low:
- short-circuit to ground in power or signal cable
- open-circuit in power cable
- contact resistance in terminals
- defective throttle position (TP) sensor.

Fault symptom[s]
- car feels sluggish
- high idling speed in neutral.
