Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information EFI-414

Condition




The engine control module (ECM) derives boost pressure from the mass air flow (MAF) sensor signal. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) EFI-414 is stored if the engine control module (ECM) registers that the mass air flow (MAF) sensor is fault-free and the load signal exceeds a certain level.

Substitute value
- the system only permits initial boost pressure

Possible source
- defective mass air flow (MAF) sensor
- contact resistance in terminals
- open-circuit in cable for boost pressure reduction from AW 50-42
- blocked hoses between turbocharger (TC) and turbocharger (TC) control valve or turbocharger (TC) control valve and pressure servo
- defective turbocharger (TC) control valve
- defective boost pressure control (BPC) valve pressure servo
- contact resistance in connectors.

Fault symptom[s]
- fuel injection is interrupted when boost pressure reaches its maximum limit. Because of this the engine runs very unevenly.
- poor performance due to initial boost pressure.
