Faulty signal. Intermittent fault

EFI-143 Front knock sensor (KS), signal; EFI-433 Rear knock sensor (KS), signal

Checking the signal cable








- Ignition off.
- Wait for approximately 150 seconds (cars with immobilizer 245 seconds).
- Disconnect knock sensors (KS). Knock sensor (KS) connectors are located on the cable duct in front of the engine.
Connect an ohmmeter between knock sensor (KS) connector terminal 1 (EFI-143) or terminal 3 (EFI-433) and ground.













The ohmmeter should read approximately 1 Mohms.

- Check cable between knock sensor (KS) terminal 1 and engine control module (ECM) #A2 (EFI-143) or #A30 (EFI-433) for an intermittent short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring and Terminals. Intermittent Faults.
