Checking solenoid valve signal cable








- Ignition off.
- Disconnect connector from solenoid valve.
- Ignition on.
Connect an electrician's screwdriver (3 W bulb at least) between solenoid valve connector terminal 2 and ground.









The electrician's screwdriver should not light.

OK - Replacing component
Try a new solenoid valve. Then continue with Verification.

Not OK - Check signal cable between solenoid valve connector terminal 2 and engine control module (ECM) #A37 for a short-circuit to supply voltage according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault. Then continue with Verification.

- Check signal cable between solenoid valve connector terminal 2 and engine control module (ECM) #A37 for a short-circuit to supply voltage according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.

- Try a new solenoid valve.

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied as follows:












- Ignition off.
- Solenoid valve and engine control module (ECM) connected.
- Ignition on.




- Select Volvo Scan Tool (ST) to activate the solenoid valve.
- The solenoid valve should click when it is activated.

Is the solenoid valve working?

OK - VERIFIED

Not OK - VERIFICATION FAILED
