EFI-541 Canister purge (CP) valve, signal

Checking the signal cable








- Ignition off.
- Disconnect connector from canister purge (CP) valve.
- Ignition on.
Connect an electrician's screwdriver (3 W bulb at least) between canister purge (CP) valve connector terminal 2 and ground.









The electrician's screwdriver should not light.

OK - Replacing component
Try a new canister purge (CP) valve. Then continue with Verification.

Not OK - Check signal cable between canister purge (CP) valve connector terminal 2 and engine control module (ECM) #A39 for a short-circuit to supply voltage according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault. Then continue with Verification.

- Check signal cable between canister purge (CP) valve connector terminal 2 and engine control module (ECM) #A39 for a short-circuit to supply voltage according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied as follows:












- Ignition off.
- Canister purge (CP) valve and control module connected.
- Ignition on.




- Select Volvo Scan Tool (ST) to activate canister purge (CP) valve.
- The canister purge (CP) valve clicks when it is activated.

OK - VERIFIED

Not OK - VERIFICATION FAILED
