Checking signal from ignition switch




- Ignition on.




- Go into rolling values.
- Read off key status.
The value should be HIGH.

Is the value HIGH?

Yes - Intermittent fault

No - Checking connectors

- Ignition off.
Check ignition switch terminal S and control module connector for contact resistance and oxidation according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
- Ignition on.




- Go into rolling values.
- Read off key status.

Is the value HIGH?

Yes - FAULT FOUND

No - Checking ignition switch

- Expose ignition switch according to Replacing the steering column Removal and Replacement.
- Disconnect the yellow cable from ignition switch terminal S.
- Ignition on.




- Go into rolling values.
- Read off key status.

Is the value HIGH?

Yes - Replacing component

No - Checking cables

Replacing component
Try a new ignition switch according to Replacing the steering column Removal and Replacement.

Continue - Intermittent fault

Check fuse 18.

Hint: If the fuse is blown, check the circuit after fuse 18 for a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault , then replace fuse.

Check cable between ignition switch terminal S and fuse 18, and cable between fuse 18 and control module #B10 for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Remedy as necessary.

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied as follows.
that the fault has been corrected as follows:




- Reinstall connectors, components etc.
- Ignition on.




- Go into scrolling values.
- Read off key status.
The value should be HIGH.

Yes - FAULT FOUND
