Mass Movement Sensor (MMS)
Mass movement sensor (MMS)
General
The device consists of a control module with an integral antenna.
MMS transmits high-frequency radio waves and detects the frequency of the reflected waves. If movement is detected in the passenger compartment, the difference between the transmitted and reflected frequencies will change, and the sensor will transmit an alarm signal to the VGLA control module.
Since MMS employs high-frequency radio waves, it is not as sensitive or susceptible to interference as the ultrasonic type. Activation is based on the movement of an object of a certain mass in the passenger compartment. In other words, unlike the ultrasonic sensor, it does not respond to air movements.
If required, MMS can be disabled temporarily (in the same manner as the ultrasonic sensor in the S70/V70).
