Body Structure/Frame Members/Safety Cage

Body Structure/frame members/safety cage

General

Body structure
The C70 is based on the S70 body. In other words, the model boasts the same basic safety features as the latter. The frame structure offers the same effective protection against both frontal and offset collisions, as well as impacts from the rear.
The body possesses excellent torsional rigidity. Factors which contribute to this include a complete wall behind the rear-seat backrest and a number of rugged structural reinforcement elements.

Front and rear frame members
The front side members, crossmembers, upper side members, wheel housings and bulkhead are similar to those in the S70/V70.
The rear side members and boot floor panel are also from the S70/V70.

Safety cage
The A and B posts, as well as the roof rails and bottom rails, are heavily reinforced to afford maximum protection against rollover and side impact. This also applies to the lateral members in the roof.
The bottom rails and door members are unique to the C70 and are also heavily reinforced.
