Connecting the breakout box to the convertible control unit
- Ignition off
- Expose the convertible control unit according to Replacing the control module Service and Repair
- Disconnect the control module
- Check the control module and control module connectors to ensure that the male and female terminals are undamaged and secure (cannot be pressed in). Check that the cables to the female terminals are secured to the terminal pins
- Connect adapter 981 3194 Replaced by 9511495 981 3194 Replaced by 951 1495 (the 30-pin and 16-pin terminal) to the control module connector. Connect breakout box 981 3190 Replaced by 9511428 981 3190 Replaced by 951 1428 to the adapter.
Hint: Control module terminals #C1- #C16 correspond to terminals #31- #46 on the breakout box and terminals #A1- #A30 correspond to terminals #1- #30 on the breakout box.
- Connect adapter 951 1496 Adapter 8-14-pin 951 1496 Adapter 8-14-Pin (the 8-pin and 14-pin terminal) to the control module connector. Connect breakout box 981 3190 Replaced by 9511428 981 3190 Replaced by 951 1428 to the adapter.
Hint: Control module terminals #B1-# B8 correspond to terminals #1- #8 on the breakout box and terminals #D1-# D14 correspond to terminals #11- #24 on the breakout box.
- The breakout box is designed to facilitate taking readings for the control module in- and output signals when the control module is connected, and the wiring and component resistance when the control module is disconnected. The use of a breakout box reduces the risk of accidental short-circuits and damage to the connector pins.
