Note! If the engine is switched off after the test drive, diagnostic trouble code (DTC) 1-1-2 will always be stored when the ignition is switched on. Do not switch off the ignition after a test drive or when the Volvo Scan Tool (ST) is connected.

- Insert the blue memory cassette into the Volvo Scan Tool (ST)
- Connect adapter 951 1457-5 to cable 951 1458-3.
- Connect the VIDA cable between the adapter and the VIDA PC.
Is the data link connector (DLC) in the passenger compartment?

- Connect cable from Volvo Scan Tool (ST) (no. 951 1458-3) to the adapter (no. 951 1459-1) for use in the engine compartment.
- Connect adapter to data link connector (DLC) A or B, see DLC DLC.
- Connect adapter cables to the battery.
- Power up the Volvo Scan Tool (ST).

Communication problems
Communication has been interrupted for one of the following reasons:
- The cable is disconnected
- The Volvo Scan Tool (ST) is disconnected
- Communication problems in the VIDA application
- Check that the adapter is correctly connected to the Volvo Scan Tool (ST).
- Check that the VIDA cable is correctly connected to the adapter junction box and VIDA cart.
- Check that the power cable is correctly connected to the battery and Volvo Scan Tool (ST).
- Ensure that VIDA memory cassette is inserted into the Volvo Scan Tool (ST).
- Check that the junction box switch is on.
- Try to establish communication again or exit reading off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
Depending on the communication fault, select one of the the following alternatives.
1. Try again.
2. Fault-trace the communication problems.
3. Stop fault-tracing.

- Try to establish communication again or exit reading off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).

Volvo ST must be connected to both VIDA PC and vehicle to DLC in passenger compartment (models 1996-) or DLC B (models -1995).
