MCC Fault-Tracing With the Volvo On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) System

Volvo on-board diagnostic (OBD) system, manual climate control (MCC)

General
Activate the Volvo on-board diagnostic (OBD) system by pressing the REC button on the unit. The following functions are available:
- 1. Two presses initiate diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) read out.
- 2. Three presses initiate damper motor self-adjustment.
- 3. Four presses erases diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
Refer to the picture for information on how to initiate the sequences and how to interpret the flashes from the indicator LED.





Reading off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)
- Ignition ON, position I or II.
- Press the REC button twice within three seconds .
- Read off the flashes from the REC indicator LED. The REC indicator LED flashes for 1 second and is off for 0.5 seconds. The timing between the numbers in a DTC code sequence is two seconds. The time between two codes is five seconds. See illustration.

Erasing diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)
- Ignition ON, position I or II.
- Press in REC button four times within three seconds .
- Read off the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) again to check that the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) have been erased as described above.
