Checking signal from hood switch




- Ignition on.




- Hood open.
- Go into rolling values.
- Read off the hood switch status.
The value should be HIGH when the hood is open.

Is the value HIGH?

Yes - No Fault Found

No - Checking for a short-circuit to ground

Check cable between VGLA control module #A3 and hood switch terminal 1 for a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.









Were any faults found in the cable?

Yes - Verification

No - Replacing component

Replace hood switch according to Replacing the hood catch and the micro-switch Service and Repair.

- Ignition off.
- Reconnect connectors, reinstall components.
- Ignition on.




- Hood open.
- Go into rolling values.
- Read off the hood switch status.
The value should be HIGH when the hood is open.

Is the value HIGH?

Yes - Fault has been remedied

No - Fault-tracing information
