Condition
- DTCs not posted
- Fault is permanent
Possible source
- Signal cable short circuited to ground
- Defective bulb in the instrument panel
- Defective instrument panel.
Fault-tracing begins with [TB] Check ABS light signal cable.

Connect the test box and check the contact points
Refer to JJJA, Connect the test box. Connect the Test Box [JJJ]
Proceed to: [TB2]
[TB2]
Check the signal cable
- Ignition off
- Control module disconnected
- Ignition on
Connect a voltmeter between #16 and #8 on the test box
The voltmeter should indicate a reading above approx. 7V
If reading is OK: TB3
If reading is incorrect: TB6

Check the bulb
Check that the bulb in the instrument panel is intact
Are the bulb(s) (3) intact?
Yes: TB4
No: TB5
[TB4]
Replace the component
Test with a new instrument panel
Then continue with: TB8
[TB5]
Replace the component
Change the bulb(s)
Then continue with: TB8
[TB6]
Check the signal cable resistance to ground
- Ignition off
- Free the instrument panel
- Disconnect instrument panel connector B
- Control module disconnected
Connect an ohmmeter between #16 and #8 on the test box
The ohmmeter should indicate infinite resistance If reading is OK: TB4
If reading is incorrect: TB7

Check for short circuiting
Check the cable between control module #16 and combination instrument connector connection B6 for short circuiting to ground as per [IIIB3]. Check Communication to Control Module [III]
Then continue with: TB8

Verification
Hint: After repair it is necessary to check that the fault has been rectified
- Ignition off
- Reconnect the connections, components etc.
- Ignition on
When the ignition is switched on, the ABS warning light is activated by the control module. Check that the warning light goes out after approx. 2 seconds
Note! The warning light will not go out if a fault has been registered in the control module
Does the warning light go out shortly after being activated?
Yes: Fault corrected
No: TB9

Fault-tracing information
The fault should now have been diagnosed and corrected. Since this is not the case the fault-tracing has failed.
Do you want to exit fault-tracing?
Yes: Fault not corrected
No: TB1
