Condition
- DTCs not posted.
- Fault is permanent.
Possible source
- Low brake fluid level.
- Signal cable short-circuit to ground.
- Defective brake fluid level sensor.
- Defective instrument sensor.
- Defective charging system.
Warning! If the warning light is activated when driving or when braking, the brake fluid level is too low and the vehicle should not be driven before the fault has been rectified.
Fault-tracing begins with HHB. Check the brake fluid level sensor circuit.

Check the brake fluid level
- Start the engine
- Disconnect the brake fluid level sensor
Check that warning light "Brake circuit out of system" goes out
Does the warning light go out?
Yes: HHB2
No: HHB3

Replace the component
Then continue with: Fault corrected
[HHB3]
Check for short-circuiting and replace the component
Check the cable between brake fluid level sensor connector connection 1 and instrument panel connection A28 for short circuiting to ground as per [IIIB3]. Check Communication to Control Module [III]
If the cable is OK test with a new instrument panel
Then continue with: Fault corrected
