SA. Test driving

Warning! Brake problems can mean that the vehicle is difficult to manoeuver. Test driving must always be carried out under sate and controlled conditions Observe the traffic regulations and speed restrictions






- Disconnect the Volvo System Tester.

- Ignition off so that the control module can connect the ABS system

- Start the engine and note the warning light "Brake circuit out of system". If it is lit the vehicle should not be driven Check the brake fluid level If the brake fluid level is too low, the hydraulic brake system checks for leakages. If the brake fluid level is OK, carry out fault-tracing as per symptom table [SE].






- Drive at a speed of at least 50 km/h (30 mph). If the ABS warning light is lit or does not go out, stop the vehicle and note any DTCs posted Carry out fault- tracing as per DTC table. If no DTCs are posted and the light is lit, carry out fault-tracing as per the fault symptom.

- Carry out several brake tests from a reasonable speed to full stop on level dry roads at least one of which should be braking with ABS regulation from a speed over 50 km/h (30 mph). Note whether there is any abnormal noise or whether the vehicle behaves abnormally in any way Listen especially for any knocking or bangs, feel whether the vehicle "pulls" to one side, or whether the brake pedal system feels abnormal Carry out fault-tracing as per [SB]. If the ABS (TRACS) warning light is lit, stop the vehicle and note any DTCs which have been posted Note also the driving conditions when the warning light(s) were activated. Carry out fault-tracing as per DTC table.
