Faulty Signal




CB1 Status check





- Ignition off.
- Disconnect the Volvo Scan Tool (ST) from the VADIS station. Use it as a stand alone tool and connect it to the data link connector (DLC) in the car.
- Ignition on.
- Read off diagnostic trouble code (DTC) counter and make a note of the value. Is counter value greater than 0?

Yes: CB8
No: CB5

CB2 Checking other Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs):





NOTE: The Volvo All-Wheel Drive (AWD) has a different fuel tank with two fuel level sensors connected in series.

- Ignition on.
- Read off other diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) in the combined instrument panel.

Codes Stored Alternative
Only CI-114 1
CI-114 and CI-112 2
CI-114 and CI-113 3

Select one of the above alternatives and continue with respective test step.
Alternative 1: CB1
Alternative 2: CB3
Alternative 3: CB4

CB3 Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) CI-114 and CI-112 Stored:
Fault-trace according to A. "CI-112 Fuel Level Sensor". CI-112 Fuel Level Sensor Then continue with CB1.

CB4 Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) CI-114 and CI-113 Stored:
Fault-trace according to B. "CI-113 Fuel level sensor". CI-113 Fuel Level Sensor Then continue with CB1.

CB5 Replacing Component:
Try a new fuel level sensor. Then continue with CB6.

CB6 Verification:





After carrying out the repair check that the fault has been remedied.

- Ignition off.
- Connect fuel level sensor connector.
- Ignition on.
- Go into scrolling values and read off unattenuated fuel level.
- Tip fuel level sensor to different positions. Does the unattenuated fuel level value change?

Yes: CB7
No: Fault not found

CB7 Reinstalling Components:





- Ignition off.
- Install fuel level sensor.
- Reconnect connectors, reinstall components. Then continue with: Fault corrected

CB8 Faulty Signal, Intermittent Fault:





- Ignition off.
- Disconnect fuel level sensor.
- Tip it in different directions and check whether the float sticks.
- replace sticking fuel level sensor.
- Install fuel level sensor.
