Faulty Signal
FB1 Checking Other Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs):
- Ignition on.
- Read off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) in combined instrument panel. Is diagnostic trouble code (DTC) CI-132 stored?
Yes: FB2
No: FB3
FB2 Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) CI-132 Stored:
Fault-trace according to H. CI- 132 Engine Speed (RPM) Signal. CI-132 Engine Speed (RPM) Signal
FB3 Status Check:
- Start engine.
- Go into scrolling values and read off engine speed (RPM). Is the engine speed (RPM) within its permitted range?
Yes: FB7
No: FB4
FB4 Checking Cables and Terminals:
- Check combined instrument panel connector A, connector 24/130 and engine control module (ECM) connector for loose connections according to ZB5.
- Check cable between combined instrument panel # A11 and ECM # B21 for an intermittent open-circuit according to ZB2, an intermittent short-circuit to ground according to ZB3 and an intermittent short-circuit to supply voltage according to ZB4. For steps ZB1 - ZB5, Intermittent Faults
Was a fault detected in cables and terminals?
Yes: FB6
No: FB5
FB5 Checking for Interference:
Check that the signal cable is not too close to sources of interference such as electric motors, ignition cables and carphone cables. Then continue with: FB6
FB6 Verification:
After carrying out the repair check that the fault has been remedied.
- Ignition off.
- Reconnect connectors, reinstall components.
- Start engine.
- Go into scrolling values.
- Read off engine speed (RPM). Is the engine speed (RPM) within its permitted range?
Yes: Fault corrected
No: Fault not found
Faulty Signal, Intermiffent Fault:
- Check combined instrument panel connector A, connector 24/13C and engine control module (ECM) connector for loose connections according to ZB5.
- Check cable between combined instrument panel # A11 and engine control module (ECM) # B21 for an intermittent open-circuit according to ZB2, an intermittent short-circuit to ground according to ZB3 and an intermittent short-circuit to supply voltage according to ZB4. For steps ZB1 - ZB5, Intermittent Faults
