Signal Too High
WARNING: In cars with AWD, lift up the car so that all wheels are hanging free.
NOTE: For steps ZA1 - ZA5 and ZB1 - ZB6, which are referred to in the following information, Other Electrical Fault Tracing (ZA steps will be found under "Permanent Faults" and ZB steps will be found under "Intermittent Faults".)
GB1 Status Check:
- Gear selector in neutral.
- Lift up the front suspension so that both front wheels are hanging free.
- Ignition on.
- Go into scrolling values.
- Spin the front wheel so that speed exceeds 2 km/h (1.2 mph) for at least 2 seconds while reading off the status of the 12 pulse vehicle speed signal. Is the status OK displayed?
Yes: GB4
No: GB2
GB2 Checking for a Short-Circuit to Supply Voltage:
- Check cable between the combined instrument panel # A7 and engine control module (ECM) # B18 for a short-circuit to supply voltage according to ZA4.
- On cars with cruise control: Check cable between combined instrument panel # A7 and cruise control control module # 8S for a short-circuit to supply voltage according to ZA4.
- On cars with radio: Check cable between combined instrument panel # A7 and radio # 7B for a short-circuit to supply voltage according to ZA4.
- On cars with VGLA: Check cable between combined instrument panel # A7 and multiple relay 2/76 # B9 for a short-circuit to supply voltage according to ZA4.
- On cars with RTI: Check cable between the combined instrument panel # A7 and RTI control module # B3 for a short-circuit to supply voltage according to ZA4.
- On cars with accessories connected to # C: Check cable between combined instrument panel # C and connected accessories for a short-circuit to supply voltage according to ZA4.
- Then continue with: GB3
GB3 Verification:
After carrying out the repair check that the fault has been remedied.
- Ignition off.
- Reconnect connectors, reinstall components.
Yes: Fault corrected
No: Fault not found
GB4 Faulty Signal, Intermittent Fault:
- Check cable between combined instrument panel # A7 and engine control module (ECM) # B18 for an intermittent short-circuit to supply voltage according to ZB4.
- On cars with cruise control: Check cable between combined instrument panel # A7 and cruise control module # 8S for an intermittent short-circuit to supply voltage according to ZB4.
- On cars with radio: Check cable between combined instrument panel # A7 and radio # 7B for an intermittent short-circuit to supply voltage according to ZB4.
- On cars with accessories connected to # C: Check cable between combined instrument panel # C and connected accessories for an intermittent short-circuit to supply voltage according to ZB4.
