Signal Missing
JB1 Status Check:
- Ignition on
- Go into scrolling values.
- Read off outside temperature. Is the outside temperature displayed, within its permitted range?
No: JB2
Yes: JB6
JB2 Checking the Outside Temperature Sensor:
- Ignition off.
- Disconnect outside temperature sensor.
- Measure outside temperature sensor resistance. Resistance should be approximately 600 Ohms at +20°. Is it?
Yes: JS4
No: JB3
JB3 Replacing Component:
Replace outside temperature sensor. Service and Repair Then continue with JB5.
JB4 Checking Cables:
Check cables between outside temperature sensor # 1 and combined instrument panel # A24 and outside temperature sensor # 2 and combined instrument panel # A25 for an open-circuit according to ZA2, a short-circuit to ground according to ZA2 and a short-circuit to supply voltage according to ZA3. Check cable connectors for contact resistance and oxidation according to ZA5. Permanent Faults Then continue with JB5.
NOTE: For further information about the circuit, see Wiring Diagram.
JB5 Verification:
After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied as follows:
- Ignition off.
- Reconnect connectors, reinstall components.
- Ignition on
- Go into scrolling values.
- Read off outside temperature. Is the outside temperature displayed, within its permitted range?
Yes: Fault not found
No: Fault corrected
JB6 Intermittent Fault, Signal Faulty:
- Check cables between outside temperature sensor # 1 and combined instrument panel # A24 and outside temperature sensor # 2 and combined instrument panel # A25 for an intermittent open-circuit according to ZB2, an intermittent short-circuit to ground according to ZB4 and an intermittent short-circuit to supply voltage according to ZB2.
- Check cable connectors for contact resistance and oxidation according to ZB6.
- For steps ZB1-ZB6, Intermittent Faults
