Faulty Signal
WARNING: Test drive cars with AWD at a speed above 20 km/h (12 mph), or lift up the front and rear suspension and remove all wheels.
OB1 Checking Other Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs):
- Ignition on.
- Read off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) in combined instrument panel. Is diagnostic trouble code (DTC) CI-221 stored?
Yes: OB2
No: OB3
OB2 Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) CI-221 Stored:
Fault-trace according to M. CI-211 D+ Signal. CI-211 D+ Signal
OB3 Status Check:
- Start engine.
- Test drive the car, or lift up the front suspension and remove both front wheels.
NOTE: When the rear wheels are stationary and the front wheels rotate, diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) may be stored in the ABS system. Erase any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) stored in the ABS system after fault-tracing. Additionally, Ensure that the front wheels are not rotating when the gear selector is moved.
- Go into scrolling values.
- Read off speed. Is the speed displayed within its permitted range?
Yes: OB7
No: OB4
OB4 Checking Cables and Terminals:
- Check combined instrument panel connector A, connector 24/13C and ABS control module connector for loose connections according to ZA5.
- Check cable between combined instrument panel # A3 and ABS control module # 6 for an intermittent open- circuit according to ZA2, an intermittent short-circuit to ground according to ZA3 and an intermittent short-circuit to supply voltage according to ZA4. Permanent Faults
Was a fault detected in cables and terminals?
Yes: OB6
No: OB5
OB5 Checking for Interference:
Check that the signal cable is not too close to sources of interference such as electric motors, ignition cables and carphone cables. Then continue with OB6.
OB6 Verification
After carrying out the repair check that the fault has been remedied.
- Ignition off.
- Reconnect connectors, reinstall components.
- Start engine.
- Test drive the car, or lift up the front suspension and remove both front wheels.
NOTE:
- When the rear wheels are stationary and the front wheels rotate, diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) may be stored in the ABS system. Erase any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) stored in the ABS system after fault-tracing. Additionally, ensure that the front wheels are not rotating when the gear selector is moved.
- Go into scrolling values.
- Read off speed. Is the speed displayed within its permitted range?
Yes: Fault corrected
No: Fault not found
OB7 Faulty Signal, Intermittent Fault:
Check combined instrument panel connector A, connector 24/1 30 and ABS control module connector for loose connections according to ZB5. Check cable between combined instrument panel # A3 and ABS control module # 6 for an intermittent open-circuit according to ZB2, an intermittent short-circuit to ground according to ZB3 and an intermittent short-circuit to supply voltage according to ZB3. Intermittent Faults
