Checking Cables And Terminals

WARNING: Before fault-tracing disconnect engine cooling fan (FC) relay connector A so that the engine cooling fan will not run. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) EFI-514 Engine cooling fan low-speed, signal may be stored. After fault-tracing reconnect connector.

- Check engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor and engine control module (ECM) connectors for a loose connection and contact resistance and oxidation.
- Check cable between engine coolant temperature sensor terminal 1 and engine control module # A31 for a short-circuit to another cable.
- If no fault is detected: Try a new engine coolant temperature sensor.

Fault-tracing Information
For intermittent faults fault-tracing is not followed by a verification because the fault is not present at this moment.
