Signal Too High: Permanent Fault
Checking the signal cable
- ignition off.
- Disconnect connector from EVAP canister shut-off valve.
- Ignition on.
Connect a test light (3 W bulb at least) between EVAP canister shut-off valve connector terminal 2 and ground.
The test light should not light.
If reading is OK:
^ Proceed to next step below.
If reading is incorrect:
^ Proceed to Checking for a short-circuit section below.
Replacing component
Try a new EVAP canister shut-off valve. See: Emission Control Systems / Leak Detection Valve
Then continue with:
^ Verification section below.
Checking for a short-circuit
Check signal cable between EVAP canister shut-off valve connector terminal 2 and engine control module (ECM) #B19 for a short-circuit to supply voltage.
Then continue with:
^ Proceed to next step below.
Verification
Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied as follows:
- Ignition off.
- EVAP canister shut-off valve and engine control module (ECM) connected.
- Ignition on.
Activate EVAP canister shut-off valve. See: Activating Components / Functions section.
The EVAP canister shut-off valve clicks when it is activated.
Is the EVAP canister shut-off valve working?
Yes:
^ Fault corrected
No:
^ Fault not found
