Condition

- DTCs not posted
- Normal battery voltage
- The charging system works
- Fault is permanent

Fault-tracing begins with [YB]. Check the control module system

Check the control module

- Ignition off
- Connect the control module
- Ignition on

When the ignition is switched on, the ABS warning light is activated by the control module. Check that the warning light goes out after approx. 2 seconds

Note! The warning light will not go out if a fault is registered in the control module

Does the warning light go out shortly after being activated?

Yes: YB2
No: YB3

Check for contact resistance and oxidation as the cause of the fault

The fault has been caused by poor contact in the control module or instrument panel connectors

Check and take appropriate action for contact resistance and oxidation in the control module and combination instruments, as per [IIIB5]. Check Communication to Control Module [III]

Then continue with: YB4

Replacement of component

Test with a new control module as per MMMM. Control module, replacement. Relays and Modules - Brakes and Traction Control - Electronic Brake Control Module - Service and Repair - Procedures Service and Repair

Verification






Hint: After repair, it is necessary to check that the fault has been rectified

- Ignition off
- Reconnect the connections, components etc.
- Ignition on

The fault should now have been diagnosed and corrected. Since this is not the case the fault-tracing has failed.
