Replacement of Components - Engine Removed
Special Tools:
- Jack No. 998 5972, or equivalent
- Stand No. 999 2520, or equivalent
- Lifting Yoke No. 999 2810, or equivalent
- Gear Sector No. 999 5112, or equivalent
- Fixture No. 999 5297, or equivalent
- Lifting Yoke No. 999 5428, or equivalent

Removal Of Components From Engine Block
1. Remove transmission:
Automatic Transmission:
- Undo torque converter screws.
All Transmissions:
- Undo 12 transmission screws from engine where the flywheel housing is mounted to the engine block.
WARNING: When removing transmission use jack 998 5972, or equivalent with transmission fixture 999 5463, or equivalent to support it and prevent damage.
2. Remove drive plate/flywheel:
- Use gear sector tool No. 999 5112, or equivalent.
- Remove drive plate.
- Remove flywheel.
3. Mount engine on stand:
- Use stand Tool No. 999 2520 and fixture tool 999 5297, or equivalents.
- Remove lifting tools.
4. Refer to the illustration for transfer of rear components.
5. Refer to the illustration for transfer of components exhaust side.
6. Refer to the illustration for transfer of components intake side.
7. Reinstall flywheel/carrier plate:
- Use gear sector tool No. 999 5112, or equivalent and special screws tool No. 999 5593, or equivalents.
Manual Transmission:
- Reinstall the flywheel using the three special screws and tighten (diagonally) to: 45 Nm (33 ft lb)
- Install the other standard screws, using new screws, and tighten to 45 Nm (33 ft lbs). Replace the three special screws with new standard screws and tighten:
1. Diagonally To: 45 Nm (33 ft lb)
2. Angle Tighten: 65°
Automatic Transmission:
- Reinstall the carrier plate, tighten in two stages:
1. Tighten to: 45 Nm (33 ft lb)
2. Angle tighten: 50°
8. Install transmission:
Automatic Transmission:
- Tighten torque converter to: 50 Nm (37 ft lb)
Manual Transmission:
- Tighten clutch driven plate and pressure plate to: 30 Nm (22 ft lb)
