Checking the signal from the hood switch
- Ignition on.
- Hood closed.
Read off the hood switch status.
The value should be LOW when the hood is closed.
Is the value LOW?
Yes - No Fault Found
No - Checking the connectors

Checking the connectors
- Check the VGLA control module connector and the hood switch connector for contact resistance and oxidation according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
- Ignition on.
- Hood closed.
Read off the hood switch status.
The value should be LOW when the hood is closed.
If the value is OK the cause of the fault was loose connections in the connectors.
Is the value LOW?
Yes - FAULT FOUND
No - Checking for an open-circuit

Check the cable between VGLA control module #A3 and hood switch terminal 1 and the cable between hood switch terminal 2 and ground for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault
Were any faults found in the cables?
Yes - Verification
No - Replacing component

Replacing component
Replace the hood switch according to Replacing the hood catch and the micro-switch Service and Repair.
Select "Continue" when this has been done.

Hint: After carrying out the repair check that the fault has been remedied as follows:
- Ignition off.
- Reconnect connectors, reinstall components.
- Ignition on.
- Hood closed.
Read off the hood switch status.
The value should be LOW when the hood is closed.
