Lock Compartment Cover


Before starting work, see CHA. Preparations Before Work. Procedures

CHF3 Removal:





- Move hood to the position shown in the image.
- Ignition off.
- Make a note of any radio code.
- Disconnect the battery negative lead.
- Mark position on lock (use marker pen) as described in CHA. Preparations Before Work. Procedures





Remove:
- 3 screws from link lock, left and right links.
- cable ties, left and right sides.
- connector and microswitch, left and right sides, as described in CHM6 - CHM7 - Microswitch Replacement.
- 2 screws from lock compartment cover, left and right locks.

- Release springs until they are in the neutral position. Move gear half towards tension member. Lift tension member, then move gear half further until wires no longer engage.
- Remove lock.





- Remove 12 screws from motor bracket.
- Pull out motor bracket.
- Release drive wires from rear lock arm compartment cover.
- Lift out complete drive unit with lock and place on a flat surface.





- Remove 3 nuts from motor.

NOTE: Hold it up with a tool to avoid splitting rubber motor supports. Release drive wires by moving slide block to end of rail, lifting slide block, and pulling out wires.





- Remove nuts from wire casing.
- Remove the parts.

CHF4 Installation:





- Install wire casing on lock with the nuts. Set position of locknut to the same position as before removal.

Install:
- lock on wires to maintain same height above guide bush. Tension spring by approximately 30 mm (1.2") (B) before gear half (A) engages.
- 2 screws on lock compartment cover.
- 3 screws on link lock.





- Engage drive wires in groove in wire guide, A = 45 mm (1.8") from edge.

NOTE: Measurements should be the same at both sides and lock should be open.

- Lightly grease wire and wire guide.
- Check that joint is correctly aligned.





- Position the flanges of wire/guide, and press motor into place.

NOTE: Make sure that flanges on wire engage groove in motor.

- Tighten the motor.





- Install motor bracket.
