Checking for knocking and rasping
Check the handling of the car as follows.
- Carry out a slow speed test drive in first and second gears at low engine speeds (1,000-1,500 rpm)
- Depress and release the accelerator pedal as if driving in heavy traffic without using the clutch. If the car jerks violently when this maneuver is carried out there is a problem with knocking and rasping.
For the X40/X70 replace the control module.
