Electronic Throttle Module (ETM), Replacing
REPLACING ELECTRONIC THROTTLE MODULE (ETM)
Removing throttle body (TB)
Drain the fuel system from the fuel filter inclusive and forward.
Remove
- intake manifold between the front cover plate and air cleaner (ACL)
- intake manifold between the air cleaner (ACL) and throttle body (TB), also vacuum hoses
- throttle body
- intake manifold vacuum hoses (left side)
- cover over the fuel rail
- ignition coils cover (left side)
- crankcase ventilation hose from upper side of cylinder head
- fuel rail
- fuel delivery hose from fuel delivery pipe. Use tool 999 5666
- air distribution pipe
- dip stick bracket screw at the intake
- intake manifold
- intake manifold vacuum hose (right-hand side)
- starter motor bracket.
Disconnect the throttle body (TB) connector.
Installing the throttle body (TB)
Install
- starter motor bracket.
Connect the throttle body (TB) connector and reinstall the cable on the outside of the starter motor bracket. Fasten the cable so that the risk of damage and connector separation is avoided.
- new gasket for intake manifold
- vacuum hoses to intake manifold, right-hand side
- intake manifold. Tighten to 20 Nm (14.75 lb.ft)
- bracket screw on the underside of the intake manifold
- dipstick pipe
- air distribution pipe
- fuel delivery hose from fuel delivery pipe
- fuel rail with new screws. Tighten to 10 Nm (7.4 lb.ft)
- the crankcase ventilation hose to the top
- ignition coils cover (left side)
- cover over the fuel rail
- intake manifold vacuum hoses (left side)
- new throttle body (TB) with a new gasket. Tighten to 10 Nm (7.4 lb.ft)
- intake manifold between the air cleaner (ACL) and throttle body (TB), also vacuum hoses
- the intake manifold between the front cover plate and the air cleaner (ACL) housing.
Finishing work
Check that no diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) were stored in the control module during the repair.
Test drive the car and check that the engine function is OK.
