Connector central electrical unit engine/transmission control module (ECM/TCM), repair

Central electrical unit (ECM/TCM)

Replacing cable terminals
Expose the central electrical unit.

Extract the cable terminal, 70 pin switch




Remove the insulating plate from the central electrical unit by releasing the catch at the same time as the insulating plate is slid out.

Hint: Use a radio screwdriver.

Connector with lock mechanism




Release the catch and slide out the lock mechanism.

Hint: Use a radio screwdriver.

Connector with passive locking




Separate the connector.

Hint: Use a radio screwdriver.

Press in the locking tab on the cable terminal and carefully pull out the cable and the cable terminal.

Hint: Use tool951 2812 Terminal removal tool 951 2812 Terminal Removal Tool or951 2637 Terminal removal tool 951 2637 Terminal Removal Tool.

Extract the cable terminal, 6 pin switch




Remove the connector from the central electrical unit by releasing the catches at the same time the connector is slid out on the cable side.

Hint: Use a radio screwdriver.

Open the secondary lock.
Remove the cable terminal.

Hint: Use tool951 2631 Terminal removal tool 951 2631 Terminal Removal Tool.





Installation

Insert the new cable terminal
Insert the new cable terminal in the receptacle housing from the cable side (in the correct position). A click is heard when it hooks into place.
Carefully pull on the cable to check that it is firmly attached.

Reassemble the connector
Assemble the secondary locks and slide the connector into the central electrical unit.
