Signal Too High. Permanent Fault
Signal too high. Permanent fault
Checking the connectors
- Ignition off.
Check central electronic module (CEM) connector for contact resistance and oxidation, as described in Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Check especially for any damage.
Hint: If cause of fault is found, then install components, connect connectors etc. If cause of fault is not found do not install control unit until you have completed the trouble-shooting.
Additional information:
- To access central electronic module (CEM) connector see Central electronic module (CEM), replacing Central Electronic Module (CEM), Replacing.
Is there a fault?
Yes - Verification
No - Checking the component and wire

Checking the component and wire
- Ignition off.
Check the wire between central electronic module (CEM) connector #2B and ignition lock connector #x (#6) for a short circuit to voltage supply as described in Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault , and for an open circuit as described in Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Additional information:
- The voltage must be 0 V if the key is in position 0 or III.
- To access/replace the CEM connector, see Central electronic module (CEM), replacing Central Electronic Module (CEM), Replacing
- To connect the test box to the control unit, see Connecting the breakout box Connecting the Breakout Box, Central Electronic Module (CEM)
- For information about signals and other values, see Signal specification Signal Specification

Fault-tracing information
The fault should have been detected and remedied. As this is not the case fault-tracing has failed.
Exit fault-tracing for this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) or make another attempt.
Do you want to exit fault-tracing?
Yes - Exit Fault-Tracing
No - Attempt New Test
