This fault-tracing applies to cars with chassis numbers 029668 onwards.
Continue the fault-tracing if the car chassis number is above 029667. Otherwise stop the fault-tracing and continue with the next test.

Is the car chassis number above 029667?

Yes - Checking for permanent and intermittent faults

No - DONE

- Ignition on.
Press the switch for the power window to check the function of the power window mechanism.

Does the power window operate correctly?

Yes - Intermittent fault

No - Checking the connectors

- Ignition off.
Check fuse 11C/35 or 11C/36 in the passenger compartment fusebox.
Check the control module and power window lift motor connectors for contact resistance and oxidation according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.

Checking for an open-circuit
Check the cable between the door control module connector #4B and the power window lift motor connector #3 for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Check the cable between the door control module connector #3B and the power window lift motor connector #6 for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Remedy as necessary.

Other information:
- The voltage across the motor should be 12 V with the button for power window operation pressed down.
- To connect the breakout box, see Connecting the breakout box Connecting the Breakout Box.

Replace the window lift mechanism according to Window lift mechanism front side door, replacing Service and Repair.
Ignition on.
Run the window to the upper limit position using manual control.
Hold the button pressed in to ensure that the window is at the absolute upper limit. At the same time, run an initiation of the position for the window.

Hint: After the repair it is necessary to check that the fault has been rectified.








- Ignition off.
- Connect the connectors, install the components, etc.
- Ignition on.
Check that window operates by raising/lowering window to its end stops.

Does window operate?

Check the connectors for the control module and power window lift motor for contact resistance and oxidation according to Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent Faults.
Check the cable between the control module connector #4B and the power window lift motor connector #3 for an intermittent open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring and Terminals. Intermittent Faults.
Check the cable between the control module connector #3B and the power window lift motor connector #6 for an intermittent open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring and Terminals. Intermittent Faults.
