Bodywork

Design

Body design
The design of the P23 builds on the same principle of the basic design of the S70 bodywork. Front and rear crumple zones to absorb the collision forces. The passenger compartment has the obligatory safety cage, with reinforced door sills, posts, cantrails and doors.
An aluminum beam is mounted between the font side member ends. In order to weld the aluminum beam in place there are four steel plugs pressed into the beam.
The front floor is divided into two components, right hand floor and left hand floor. Transmission tunnel is a separate section.
Along the sides of the transmission tunnel there is front-rear reinforcement member with bracing brackets at the front. The bracing brackets have the task of the stopping the engine from entering the passenger compartment in event of a frontal collision.
There is a lateral member made of HSS between the rear side members ends(lower rear section).
The front door members are also important as part of the reinforcement in the passenger compartment. The members are made of boron steel.

Note! Instructions should always be followed when repairing and replacing body components on the P23. None of the body components made of HSS plate or boron steel may be cut/joined or straightened.
