Hood
Replacing the hood
- Support the hood
- Remove the hose for the windshield washer
- Remove the retaining clip for the support
- Remove the hinge screws
- Install in reverse order
- Adjust the hood. See operation Adjusting the hood.
Tighten the screws. Tighten to 24 Nm.
Removing the hood components
- Remove the insulation panel (press pins)
- Remove the washers and hoses (depress the retaining clips)
- Remove the tensioner straps, 2 for the headlamp and 1 for the entire width
- Remove the radiator grille. See operation Replacing the radiator grille.
Installing hood components
Note! A new hood must always be rust-proofed.
- Install the grille. See Replacing the radiator grille.
Install:
- Washers and hoses
- The insulation panel
- Sealing strips (use new double-sided adhesive tape)
- The weatherstrips (2 for the headlamps).
Note! When replacing the hood, both ends of the weatherstrip must be shortened by 120 mm.
Note! Adjust the windshield washers.
Replacing gas struts

Adjusting the hood
Front-rear, side to side, (rear edge):
- Slacken off the screws. Position the hood in the correct position (remove the cover plate if necessary).
Tighten the screws. Tighten to 10 Nm.
Side to side (front edge):
- Slacken off the mounting screws for the hood catch. Push the hood catch to the side as far as possible.
Vertically (front edge):
- Turn the rubber dampers.
Replacing hood hinges
- Remove the windshield wiper arms
- Remove the panel
- Support the hood
- Remove the mounting screws
- Remove the screw and the nut.
- Install in reverse order
- Adjust the hood. See operation Adjusting the hood.
Replacing the hood release cable
(Cannot be adjusted.)
- Remove the three mounting screws for the hood catch
- Unhook the mechanical cable from the hood catch
- Remove the fender liner
- Pull the locking cable through to the wheel arch.
- Remove the mounting screws for the handle in the passenger compartment
- Remove the locking cable from the handle
- Pull the locking cable through the wheel arch.
- Install in reverse order
- Position the sleeve over the new mechanical cable
- Right-hand drive cars: secure the mechanical cable. Use a tie strap beside the air intake.
Tightening torque for the lock screws: 8 Nm.
Replacing the radiator grille
- Remove the mounting screws. Remove the grille
- Install in reverse order.
Tighten the screws. Tighten to maximum 3 Nm.
Note! Install the screws in order, as illustrated.
