Checking the control module connection




- Switch off the ignition.
Check that the cable connector is correctly connected to the control module. Check that the connectors lock together securely.
Check that the cable terminals in the female and male halves of the connector are not damaged or pressed back.





Is the control module connected correctly?

Yes - No Fault Found

No - Remedy the component

- The control module is not connected correctly.
Check the control module according to Replacing the ABS control module Replacing The ABS Control Module , Section 5 (50-59), Brakes, 1996-.

Select Continue when the fault has been remedied.

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied as follows:




- Ignition off.
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Ignition on.
The ABS warning lamp must light when the ignition is switched to position II. It should go out after 4 seconds, or when the engine is started.

Hint: The ABS warning lamp does not go out if the control module has registered a fault.





Does the lamp go out approximately 4 seconds after the ignition is switched on?
